HE IS RISEN!

The baskets above were an Aprils Fools joke because Easter landed on April 1st. The kids were less than thrilled and it was hilarious. It's fun to trick your kids sometimes. We've earned the right as parents. They woke up all excited to find their Easter baskets and only saw the above. They were like "What????" We said APRIL FOOLS and relief flooded their little faces. Journey was almost in tears before we told her. Poor baby.. We told them to start looking for their real baskets and those frowns quickly turned upside down.

JK is not naked in the picture above although she looks like it. LOL She's wear underwear...her favorite pajamas. That girl strips down the moment she gets home...her most comfortable attire is unders only.

Easter is such a special time for all of us. Jesus died on the cross for our sins then rose again so we could all be saved. His blood was shed for every one of us. They laid his body that was wrapped in linen in a tomb and sealed it shut with a stone. The next morning when they went to check on him, they found an EMPTY tomb. For he was not there, he had risen. He appeared to his apostles and hundreds of others over the period of 40 days after he rose to confirm that he had died but was alive again. A miracle. The world's greatest, most beautiful miracle.
No, this holiday isn't about baskets and bunnies and eggs. It's about Jesus and the fact that he laid down his life for us. A selfless act that affects each person that has ever taken a breath and all the lives still to come.
It makes my heart flutter when I think about it. Tears run down my face as I imagine what he went through that day. He cried out to his father "why have you forsaken me?" He knew his fate and did it anyway. My prayer today is to be more like him. To be selfless and accepting and to love others more than myself. To do good, each and every day. That is the only way I can even start to thank him for what he does for me.
What a special day. What a glorious day. Thankful I am. Blessed I will always be because of HIM.
