It started off as a dream that somehow transformed into reality. We were going on a 10 person family vacation to Maui, Hawaii! All ten of us! We booked the vacation in October 2022 and started counting the days.....until finally...
It was time.
We set our alarm for 4am and were out the door headed to XNA by 5:15am. Everyone was so excited!! I wish I could bottle that excited energy and bust it out whenever needed.
| Baby JoJo on the first flight to Dallas. She was such a little lady and just watched a show on her ipad for the 45 minute flight. The next flight was the doozy...8 hours 14 minutes! |
Mom gifted us this amazing trip and even put us in Premium Economy which is just behind First Class. This basically meant we all had a lot more room to get comfy and all the free stuff too :) We seriously felt so fancy. It was really fun treating the kids and seeing their excitement.
Minutes from landing on Maui island for the next 10 days...
WE MADE IT!
These are the Luana Garden Villas inside the Honua Kai resort. They are a 4 plex and our condos are the top right and bottom right. The entire back of the condo opens up with floor to ceiling glass pocket doors. It's called a lanai and I think I could live the rest of my life in one with the view we had. This was "our pool" which was shared for the 6-8 units that surrounded it. Minutes away on the beach were 3 more pools.
| My beautiful girls ♥ |
This was our first day exploring the island and resort area. It's a 5 hour time difference so we were all awake and ready to go by 4am...By 9am we were ready for lunch lol. We adjusted eventually but took advantage of the early morning hours.
In the words of Chandler Bing "Could there be a more beautiful site?"
Everywhere we looked was beauty. The trees, the weather, the beach, the people.
We ate at Duke's several times during our stay and the first 2 times we had seats overlooking the ocean. As we are eating our coconut shrimp we look out and watch the humpback whales breach over and over. They were putting on a show for all of us! The whole restaurant was electric with excitement. March in Maui is whale season which is when the humpbacks travel all the way from Alaska to have their babies in the warm safe waters of Maui. In mid-April they begin their journey back to Alaska to feed with their new babies beside them. We ended up going back the next day at the same time and saw them again. We felt so privileged to be able to witness such beauty.
Jonah loves the sand. He doesn't love the ocean water much but give him a beach of sand and he is a happy boy.
Baby Jude stole all our hearts this trip.
Had to just wrap this up in pictures. It's been over a year since we were there. LOL I have been terrible at keeping up but this was such a special trip. We were all together for 10 days enjoying this beautiful place with the sweetest people. We learned what "Practice Aloha" means and will strive to do that every day. You can practice aloha anywhere, even in beautiful NWA.
