Chicks at the Crescent Hotel

My mema came into town to visit from California so she and my mom put together a weekend getaway for myself and cousins. The plan was to meet up at mom's house at 3pm on Friday and head to the Crescent Hotel to check into our cottage.

Our condo for the evening. We all made drinks as soon as we got there and sat around for awhile before heading over to the dining room at the Crescent for dinner.

He played Piano Man for me :)

This was during the Ghost Tour. Our tour guide is the creepy looking lady in the black hat and dress. She was so mean to me and Angie. We were giggling and having way too much fun so she kept stopping the tour and asking us to be quiet. Honestly, we weren't that loud. We were away from the rest of the group, kinda trailing behind so I don't see how we were being distracting but whatever. I had a few cocktails in me by then and nothing bothered me. We just went on about our way trying to catch an orb.

This is where the little girl fell. She was 4 or 5 and was playing on the 4th floor, running and fell over the balcony rail to the bottom floor. This area has an opening that goes straight to the bottom. The railings are so low. They come up to the top of my thigh. If I had one more cocktail, I could've fallen over the rail. They won't change it though, said back in the late 1800s people were shorter, average height of 4'11". They didn't have refrigeration which was why they had poor nutrition.
The little girl (they say) is still there and will sometimes tug on the bottom of your coat or shirt, like a child would do to get your attention.
This was around Michael's room. Michael was a 17 year old boy who came to work on the Crescent hotel back in the late 1800s. He was in his room out on the balcony and leaned over to holler at a cute girl walking by and fell. They say he is still here and if a pretty lady stays in his room she might find that her pjs were pulled off in the night. Michael also likes to turn the shower facet to HOT when a guy is in the shower. They say he gets jealous of them for getting to be with the girl so he blasts them with hot water. Bit of a cheeky fellow. A horn ball it sounds like.

This lady was fun. She had an EMF detector and it started going off like crazy about half way into the tour. Our witch tour guide made her turn off the sound though because it was disruptive. It's like wait, what kind of tour are we on again?
This is where it really started going off. Right there in the corner where they are standing. Not sure what was with us but we definitely weren't alone. Mom's down there taking a picture of me, taking a picture of her. :)

The creepiest place of all. The morgue. Those are pictures of Norman Baker...the man who claimed he could cure cancer. He didn't believe in pain meds of any kind. His magic elixir was nothing more than a useless mix of watermelon seed, brown corn silk, alcohol and carbolic acid. He (and by "he" I mean his nurses. He never injected them himself because he had absolutely no medical training) injected his patients with this 7 times a day. Again, he never administered pain meds so his patients were in constant agony. You would be too if someone injected you with carbolic acid every 3-4 hours. This is the morgue where the bodies would pile up, waiting to be dissected. There was up to 30 bodies in a single freezer at once.
He created the "pain ward" which was sound proof and where all patients went to scream and cry and eventually die.

These rooms were guarded by men with guns. It was where he kept organs in jars as proof he was curing these people of cancer.
It's spooky down here. The hotel laundry room is right around the corner. The people that work there never work alone. They say they hear doors and gates slamming all the time. They think it's the guard closing doors, slamming gates shut. There's a man that works down there and keeps watch at night. He is allowed to bring his dog with him so he's not alone.

All of us ladies before dinner. It was such a wonderful weekend. It had been so long since I'd seen my cousins and Mema and when we all get together, it's a laugh a minute. I am so blessed to be apart of this crazy, amazing family. We are already planning another trip. We're going to stay in Theodora's suite. She was a nurse who worked at the hotel and eventually became a patient. She died there during treatment but they say she is a friendly spirit who tidies up guests rooms. If you leave your socks on the floor, you might find them folded and sitting neatly on the dresser. We're all looking forward to being together again in the spooky, beautiful Crescent Hotel.
