To start the holiday off right, we mosied over to Rodeo of the Ozarks on Wednesday night where we were hooked up with free tickets. Sometimes it's nice working in the ticketing industry...would be a lot cooler if I could get hooked up with Dave Matthews tickets but the Rodeo is fine too.
The kiddos were super adorable in their outfits and were happy to sit in the stands with their apple slices while we watched cowboys get bucked off their broncos. Jonah wanted to ride the mechanical bull but after we paid and waited our turn he got in and wanted nothing to do with the bull but proceeded to jump up and down like he was in a bounce house.
The next day was July 4th and we were both off work. So we seized the opportunity and got some things done around the house (never ending story) and ate some watermelon on the back porch while setting off smoke bombs, whistlin' bungholes, spleen splitters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker don'ts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers with or without the scooter stick and whistlin' kitty chasers.
Then we headed over to Fayetteville for fireworks and fun with some friends. They both passed out on the way there because they were little turds and didn't nap all day. Jonah woke up with a 'tude but snapped out of it long enough to have some fun. Max and Jonah played with poppers and had a blast throwing them down on the ground. They played in the car and watched Dora while we waited for the sun to set so the fireworks could begin. Walter and Journey sat on the hood of the car sharing animal crackers while talking about the good ole days.
The kids were so cute in their matching outfits but I never got the money shot. Jonah thinks I'm the paparazzi and hides his face the moment I pull the camera out. It was a busy, wonderfully crazy 2 days but it was a blast and Jonah is still talking about the boom booms. We are setting off more boom booms tonight. We are so happy to be Americans we might just keep on celebrating for another few days or at least until the booms are gone.
Happy Independence Day!
